The Summer Stars Foundation produces the Summer Stars Camp for the Performing Arts each Summer. The Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit that relies entirely on your donations to operate.
Donna Milani Luther
Founding Director of Summer Stars, Donna has been an arts and creativity educator for over thirty five years. She is currently Head of Inly School, a co-educational independent day school in Massachusetts for students ages 2 – 14. A member of the Leadership Development faculty for the Creative Education Foundation, she teaches educators and business professionals courses like Creativity in the 21st Century Classroom, Advanced Strategies for Educators, Facilitation through the Arts, Integrating Creativity and Leadership and Team Building. Donna recently completed a research project at Dartmouth College on the effects of Creative Thinking on Middle School students. She is an adjunct faculty member at Lesley College's national and international M.Ed. program for Creative Arts in Learning. She has presented at conferences throughout the United States and in Brazil, China, South Africa and Israel.
Steve is President of the Board of Trustees of the Summer Stars Foundation. He is a working writer, director and producer, and president of Los Angeles-based Custom Productions, Inc. He wrote and directed MGM's Two Weeks starting Sally Field & Ben Chaplin. He's produced, show--run and directed network television shows and over 200 commercials and music videos. Steve is the author of the world's best-selling cinematography book, How to Shoot Video that Doesn't Suck, based in part on what he learned teaching music video classes at Summer Stars. He's past President of the Board of the Westside Waldorf School in Pacific Palisades, CA, a graduate of Brown University, and a life member of the Creative Education Foundation, where he's taught many courses with Donna Luther.
As treasurer of the Summer Stars Foundation, Tim has grown the endowment to mid-6 figures over the past 3 years. Based in Barcelona, Spain,Tim consults scientists and researchers, bringing structured creativity and innovation to challenges facing them. With twenty-five years of experience in corporate selling, finance, management and facilitative leadership, he's responsible for over a billion dollars in sales transactions. Tim’s book, Never Be Closing — how to sell better without screwing your clients, your colleagues or yourself, represents years of building and rebuilding the process of selling. He’s delivered keynote speeches on creativity and innovation at conferences on three continents. Tim graduated with a B.A. in Economics from the University of Rochester, and an M.B.A. in Finance from the William E. Simon School of Business Administration.
Maggie serves as Secretary of the Board of the Summer Stars Foundation. She is a facilitator, trainer; and founder of Inclusive Innovation, a company that uses creativity workshops and leadership development programs to accelerate innovation in scientific research proposals and economic development. A part of the core facilitation team at KnowInnovation, Maggie received the Creative Education Foundation’s Distinguished Leader Award and has been a leader/presenter at creativity conferences worldwide, including the Creative Problem Solving Institute (CPSI) in the United States, the European Creativity Association conference (CREA) in Italy, European Association for Creativity and Innovation (EACI), the South African Creativity Conference, Creativity Istanbul, and Mindcamp in Toronto, Canada. She started her career in radio broadcasting, serving as Vice President at both NewCity Communications and Emmis Broadcasting International. She holds a B.A. in History and Semiotics from Brown University.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY by way of St. Lucia, Michael is the first Summer Stars camper alumnus to serve on the Board of Trustees. Michael competed the Summer Stars leadership training program, has been a counselor, and more recently spends his Summer Stars session in operations. He holds a BA in Health & Human Performance Prairie View A&M University, where he was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., supporting its many programs and community services. Michael is an entrepreneur and creative financing consultant who believes that educating people on the resources that are available to them leads them to a more successful financial life.
Is the founder and artistic director of OrigiNation in Jamaica Plain, MA, a non-profit that produces innovative and dynamic performing arts programs to motivate, challenge, and inspire youth. Shaumba has been teaching Hip Hop and African dance at Summer Stars for more than a decade, and would be elected President of the United States in a landslide if Summer Stars campers could vote.
